Working primarily with rare mineral pigments and water, Gensac honour’s the beauty of nature. Her paintings are not scenes — they provide spaces to breathe.
Here people connect with the Ocean and honour the mana (spiritual Power) of the sea.
He aliʻi ka ʻāina, he kauwā ke kanaka.
The land is a chief; the people are its servants.
— Mary Kawena Pukui, ʻŌlelo Noʻeau No. 531
Gensac’s paintings always carry within them the Aloha ʻāina (the love of the land and sea) paintings that remain vibrant and bring to us the spiritual experience of nature.

France, and the French Riviera is one of my favourite places to paint. The light is so spectacular here, the breathtaking nature set between the mountains and the sea, makes you feel grateful to be alive!
The Maison Gensac Studio is home to my Art.
To me it’s a creative haven, where when I am lucky, light becomes art.

Never much of a studio, more a movable space.
Here, on the move, I paint mostly outside keeping it simple. However, it is always such a treat to be surrounded by nature, sea, mountains, and breezes!
In truth wherever I may be, my work is always guided by a simple truth: the land leads, and we listen.

During Covid, I could not travel and life was so out of the ordinary that I decided to challenged myself and restore some “old masters”. This one was so austere, he made me laugh everyday - I jokingly called him - Grumpy Old Man !
Restorations
This room, was almost abandoned in the upstairs of the Boulders. I repainted it and created a place to create. It may not have had the ideal light, but it was a studio in which I feel blessed to have had the joy to paint - it was my place of solace throughout the Covid years!
